Quantum advantage, the point at which quantum computers outperform classical ones, necessitates scaling from present-day systems containing tens of qubits to those powered by millions. Silicon is the only technology capable of accomplishing this qubit scaling, and foundry silicon, in particular, is the only viable commercial option. Equal1 has successfully demonstrated silicon qubits using a standard foundry process.
