Equal1 today announced that CEO Jason Lynch has been appointed to Ireland's newly established Advisory Council on the Semiconductor Sector, supporting the implementation of the country's national semiconductor strategy, Silicon Island.

Established by Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment Peter Burke and chaired by Dr. Ann Kelleher, former Senior Vice President at Intel Corporation, the industry-led Council will advise the Irish Government on strengthening the country's semiconductor ecosystem, competitiveness and global leadership.

"The future of semiconductors is deeply connected to the future of quantum technology, and Ireland has an exciting opportunity to lead at this intersection," said Lynch. "I'm honoured to join the Council and look forward to working with Dr. Ann Kelleher and fellow members to strengthen our ecosystem and turn the ambitions of Silicon Island into lasting impact."

Lynch's appointment brings expertise in silicon-based quantum computing to the Council. Equal1 is pioneering a semiconductor-based approach to quantum computing, leveraging established silicon manufacturing technologies to develop scalable, commercially deployable quantum systems.

As semiconductor and quantum technologies converge, Ireland has an opportunity to build on its established industry strengths and play a leading role in the next generation of computing.
