Equal1 Expands Engagement in Saudi Arabia

August 1, 2026

Equal1, a leader in silicon-based quantum computing, will participate in the KAUST ScaleX program and LEAP technology conference in Saudi Arabia, exploring opportunities to bring practical, data centre-ready quantum computing to one of the world's fastest-growing advanced technology markets.

The 2.5-week KAUST ScaleX program will take Equal1 to Jeddah and Riyadh, connecting the company with leading organizations across Saudi Arabia's technology and innovation ecosystem. The program will begin with LIFTOFF at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Jeddah, followed by TAKEOFF in Riyadh.

As part of the program, John McGuire of Equal1 will present the company's approach to making quantum computing practical and commercially deployable, highlighting how silicon-based quantum technology can integrate into existing computing infrastructure.

Equal1 also will participate in LEAP, one of the Middle East's leading technology conferences, where the company will showcase its silicon-powered quantum computing technology and meet with government, enterprise and research organizations interested in the potential of quantum computing.

Bringing Data Center-Ready Quantum Computing to Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia is making significant investments in artificial intelligence, advanced computing and emerging technologies as part of its efforts to build a globally competitive technology ecosystem. These investments create opportunities for next-generation computing technologies that can support research, industrial innovation and sovereign computing capabilities.

Equal1 is pioneering a fundamentally different approach to quantum computing, leveraging established semiconductor technology to develop scalable quantum systems designed for deployment in conventional data centres.

The company's flagship RacQ quantum computer combines silicon-spin qubits with integrated classical computing capabilities in a self-contained, rack-mounted system. Featuring a closed-cycle cryogenic system and power consumption of approximately 1.6 kW, RacQ is designed to operate within existing data center infrastructure without the specialized facilities traditionally required for quantum computers.

This approach offers a pathway for organizations to integrate quantum computing alongside existing AI and high-performance computing infrastructure, supporting future applications in materials science, chemistry, pharmaceuticals and other computationally demanding fields.

Exploring Strategic Partnerships in the Kingdom

Through KAUST ScaleX and LEAP, Equal1 looks forward to engaging with KAUST, the Ministry of Investment of Saudi Arabia, SAB and the wider Saudi technology and industrial ecosystem to identify opportunities for research collaboration, technology deployment and commercial partnerships.

Participation in KAUST ScaleX and LEAP supports Equal1's international growth strategy and its mission to make quantum computing accessible to organizations worldwide.
