Senior Analog/RF IC Engineer

We are seeking a senior Analog/RF IC Engineer specializing in mixed-signal integrated circuits (ICs) to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial role in the design, development, and delivery of cutting-edge mixed-signal quantum processor ICs. You will also get to work with a multi-disciplinary team of quantum physicists, algorithm development engineers, RF circuit, digital designers, software engineers and AI/machine learning engineers to create a scalable 1 million qubits quantum computer. This position will suit an individual who is looking to work in a new and dynamic area with an innovative market-leading company poised for rapid growth. We place great emphasis on innovation, creative thinking, coupled with ownership and high-quality execution. This is a chance to become a key person in a rapidly emerging and world-changing company, making a lasting impact on the strategy for developing quantum computing.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Developing detailed circuit specifications, making analysis for performance, power, noise and area, using modelling techniques.

  • Circuit performance analysis using SPICE simulations and Python post processing.

  • Detailed transistor-level circuit design implementation, and integration to higher level blocks.

  • Perform mixed-signal transient, AC, PSS, and sensitivity simulation and modelling.
Design and integrate high-frequency synthesizer design for RF clock generation and distribution.

  • Developing algorithms for circuit calibration and optimization.

  • Sufficient familiarity with synthesizer design for RF clock generation and distribution.

  • Experience with RF circuit design such as VCOs, mixers, active filters, LNA is desired.

  • Experience with EM simulation and parasitic extraction for RF circuit design.

  • I/O driver/receiver modelling for state-of-the-art high-speed interfaces.

  • Measure and calibrate circuit performance in a lab environment, including developing Python or C-based measurements.

  • Working collaboratively with a wider team of engineers across many disciplines.

Desired Experience and Qualifications

This position requires detailed knowledge of some of the following:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in analog and/or mixed-signal IC design roles.

  • Practical experience in mixed-signal IC design, a good understanding of analog circuits such as ADC, DAC, low power clocking and distribution, OTA and filter design.

  • Deep understanding of analog circuit design principles, mixed-signal simulation, and layout techniques for very low power consumption.

  • Strong background in advanced semiconductor technologies, and device physics, particularly for FDX22SOI or similar process nodes.

  • Proficiency in EDA tools such as Cadence or Synopsys for schematic capture, simulation, layout, and verification.

  • Experience with Verilog-A/AMS for behavioral modelling and system-level verification.

  • Experience with low-power design techniques, clock and power distribution, and on-chip interconnects.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to debug complex mixed-signal issues.

  • Knowledge of digital design concepts and methodologies, including RTL coding and logic synthesis.

  • Hands-on experience for RF test equipment (spectrum analyzers and network analyzers).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering, physics or related discipline, M.Sc. or Ph.D.
