Spin Qubit Calibration Engineer
LOCATION: Dublin, Ireland, Delft, Netherlands, or Sherbrooke, Canada
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Spin Qubit Calibration Engineer to join our cutting-edge research and development team in one of our international locations. You will play a key role in advancing our quantum processors by calibrating, tuning, and optimizing spin qubit devices. Your work will directly contribute to the performance and scalability of quantum computing systems.
Main Duties and Responsibilities

Qubit Calibration: Calibrate and fine-tune spin qubit systems to optimize gate fidelities, coherence times, and overall device performance.

System Optimization: Collaborate with quantum hardware teams to improve qubit initialization, readout processes, and error-correction techniques.

Hardware & Software Integration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth integration of quantum hardware with control electronics and software.

Algorithm Development: Develop and implement automated calibration routines and control sequences using advanced programming techniques to enhance qubit stability and system robustness.

Problem Solving: Address challenges such as qubit decoherence, charge noise, and crosstalk using experimental techniques and data-driven approaches.

Software Tools: Utilize and develop software tools in Python for data analysis, qubit control, and calibration automation. Collaborate using version control systems (e.g. Git) to manage and document code and project development.

Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed records of calibration processes, results, and device performance, and present findings to technical teams.

Research & Innovation: Contribute to research efforts aimed at improving the scalability and efficiency of quantum computing hardware.
Experience and Qualifications
Required

Education: M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Quantum Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

Experience: Hands-on experience with calibrating and measuring solid state quantum devices, such as spin qubits or superconducting qubits.

Technical Skills:

Strong background in quantum mechanics and semiconductor device physics.

Proficiency in cryogenic systems or low-temperature experiments.

Experience with RF and microwave electronics for qubit control and signal generation.

Expertise in Python for data analysis, control automation, and experimental optimization.

Familiarity with Git or other version control systems for collaborative software development.

Knowledge of quantum control software, and experience working with integrated hardware-software systems.

Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues in quantum devices.

Communication: Excellent technical writing and presentation skills for sharing results with internal teams.
Desired Experience

Prior experience with spin qubit systems or semiconductor-based quantum technologies.

Understanding of quantum error correction and multi-qubit architectures.

Familiarity with scalable quantum computing hardware and quantum information theory.
