Principal Analog IC Lead Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Analog  IC Lead Engineer specializing in mixed-signal integrated circuits (ICs) to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial role in the design, development, and delivery of cutting-edge mixed-signal quantum processor ICs. You will also get to work with a multi-disciplinary team of quantum physicists, algorithm development engineers, RF circuit, digital designers, software engineers and AI/machine learning engineers to create a scalable 1 million qubits quantum computer. This position will suit an individual who is looking to work in a new and dynamic area with an innovative market-leading company poised for rapid growth. We place great emphasis on innovation, creative thinking, coupled with ownership and high-quality execution. This is a chance to become a key person in a rapidly emerging and world-changing company, making a lasting impact on the strategy for developing quantum computing.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the IC architecture and specifications based on requirements, and applying technical rigour to guide technical trade-offs.

  • Drive the detailed design and implementation of the quantum processor, including analog and digital blocks, power management units, clocking systems, and off-chip interfaces.

  • Utilize state-of-the-art EDA tools and methodologies for schematic capture, simulation, layout, and verification to perform circuit design and analysis, considering factors such as noise, power consumption, timing, and signal integrity.

  • Individual contributor, or peer reviewer for IC block design, such as ADC, DAC, OTA, filters and high-speed clock buffers, and chip interfaces.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including systems designers, digital, verification, and software engineering teams, as well as the quantum physics teams,  to achieve seamless integration and optimal performance.

  • Collaborate with the verification team to develop and implement test benches, behavioral models, and test cases.

  • Support post-silicon validation and debug efforts, working closely with test engineers and system integration teams.
Conduct thorough performance analysis, including power, area, timing, and noise, to identify opportunities for optimization and improvement.

Desired Experience and Qualifications

This position requires detailed knowledge of some of the following:

  • Experience designing analog mixed signal circuitry and architectural development required for FDX22SOI and/or  finFET technologies.

  • Expertise in the use of industry standard IC design, simulation and verification tools in deep-sub micron technologies.

  • Experience working with PDKs and design rule manuals from various leading foundries, and designing ESD strategies for multiple voltage domains.

  • Experience with Verilog-A/AMS for behavioral modeling and system level modeling.

  • Experience with layout driven design, custom component/cell design is desired.

  • Strong knowledge of semiconductor device physics fundamentals is desired..

  • Experience with test and measurement requirements and ability to prescribe the testing to validate designs using bench equipment.

  • A minimum of 8 years experience in progressive analog and/or mixed-signal IC design roles.

  • Ability to execute multiple tasks efficiently and effectively.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work well in a team

  • Demonstrated experience in several successfully completed projects

  • Willing to work in an environment that allows initiative and requires flexibility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering, physics or related discipline, M.Sc. or Ph.D
