Vice President of Quantum Engineering

The Vice President of Quantum Engineering will help us expand and lead our Engineering team. A great candidate for this role is a strong people manager who is passionate about delivering on the promise of quantum. The person in this role will be an integral part of the senior leadership team, partnering with others on that team to translate our company vision and strategy into engineering strategies that enable us to succeed in our mission to deliver real world quantum computing.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the quantum measurement team responsible for successful execution of our quantum
    experiments stream both internally and externally. You will work closely with the Quantum Physics team on modelling, simulation, design and interpretation of experiments for quantum dots and spin qubits to successfully deliver our scalable qubit platform and error correction demonstration.

  • Contribute to the Qubit processing and packaging efforts with our foundry and packaging
    partners. This will involve developing a method to assess various processes for spin qubits,
    management of test runs to prove the concept and working closely with Quantum Physics
    and Silicon teams to deliver the most scalable platform for qubits and cryo-electronics.

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership: Reporting to the CTO, you will work closely with our senior leadership team to translate our company vision and strategy into a strategy and vision for the Engineering function. You’ll track and manage key KPIs to objectively assess engineering’s progress against our roadmap, pivoting as needed, and sharing learnings along the way.

  • Lead and grow our Engineering organisation: You’ll expand, uplevel, and manage
    engineers, including those embedded on other teams, ensuring we have the key roles
    needed to execute our roadmap. You’ll foster a culture aligned with our values within
    Engineering and across teams. You’ll help us recruit and retain top quantum engineering
    talent to help us scale our teams. You’ll do all this by being a thought leader who can earn
    respect and trust and help grow even our most senior engineers.

Desired Experience and Qualifications

  • Proven track record in leading teams successfully and delivering results . 5+ years of
    Engineering leadership experience in a quantum computing company.

  • A passion for people management. You love empowering and developing team members.
    You have a strong track record of creating team cohesion to enable the team to achieve
    great things and you’ve managed in a remote environment with teams in various
    geographic locations.

  • A strong track record of collaborating effectively with other senior leaders across a
    company.

  • Experience with semiconductor device characterisation and processing and ideally quantum dot characterisation.

  • Clear knowledge of semiconductor qubit architectures.

Qualifications

  • PhD degree or equivalent experience in a relevant scientific discipline with a proven track record in the field of quantum technologies and semiconductor technologies.
